Cast:
Shaial: Retired supreme-god-thing. Sanity-optional.
Sorensha: Half-fallen oracle angel, current houseguest
Tian: Shapeshifter; the sane one
Shaial: Hello again.
You've probably wondered why Sorensha always speaks in
italics. It's the Landlady's way of showing that he's not actually speaking verbally at all. Soren is under a curse placed on him by his father, commonly known in this universe as 'God'.
Although I still don't quite understand that as god is a title, not a name, but this isn't my universe so it isn't my place to judge.
Soren was created to contain all the Knowledge of God. There are a couple of other angels who contain other aspects, but I haven't met them.
Yet.
You haven't seen it, since it's usually closed, but Soren has a third eye which opens when he's being an Oracle and divulging the knowledge he contains. A while back there was some talk of 'modding' but that idea was dropped for various reasons. So you'll just have to bear with us and pretend.
That, or the Landlady will just have to get creative with Photoshop if it ever comes up.
Anyway, Soren. A long time ago something bad happened, which he doesn't like to talk about, and as 'punishment' his father banished him to the mortal realm, sealed his voice so that he couldn't speak, and made it so that if he ever touched a human being, he would drive that person insane.
... If I was so inclined, I would really be starting to dislike the guy.
Now, in Soren's world, this was a big problem, since everyone was either human, angel, or demon. Fortunately, it doesn't work through clothes, but still, it left Soren very alone.
It's only since coming here that he's been able to open up a bit, since this house tends to amass an eclectic assortment of races and few, if any, humans.
A human, like Tian's boyfriend Token, cannot hear Soren speak.
For these people, Soren carries a notebook, and simply writes what he's trying to convey.
The rest of us hear him in our minds, though if we have any human blood in us, it gets harder to hear him.
For example, if a person was half human and half, oh, frog or something, then that person wouldn't hear him very well. The more human blood, the harder it is to hear him. Like he's whispering. Also, it takes a longer touch for the insanity thing to kick in, so a brief brush of hands isn't going to hurt anything, unless the person is completely human.
Soren:
Shaial? Are you talking to the air again? Shaial: It's not the air, it's the...
Shaial: ..... yes, yes I am.
Soren:
You make no sense. Shaial: Was I supposed to?
Soren:
Heh. Soren:
No, not really. Shaial: But don't worry, I'll protect him now.
